Friday Fives!

I'm back again to link up with April, Christina, Darci, and Natasha this week for another edition of the five things I'm loving this week.

1. This week my number one goes to my Christmas tree!  This is the only photo I have for now, but it will do the trick until I remember to transfer my pictures from my camera to my computer.  Isn't it pretty???  I've added a tree skirt since then, and of course all the presents I've wrapped!  It looks really great in person!

2.  Lazy Sundays with too much food and just the right amount of football.  We had my BFF Beth and her husband over this past Sunday for some indoor tailgating, as I like to call it.  I made waaaay too much food, but that's pretty much my m.o. when entertaining.  Good times!

3.  Getting all my Christmas shopping done this early in the month.  I'm not going to lie, I usually have a couple panic moments around the 20th of December when I really have to try and figure out what to get certain people on my list.  Luckily, I did not have that problem this year, and I finished all of my shopping yesterday!  Yay!  Thanks, internet and T.J. Maxx.  Seriously, the only store I actually walked into for Christmas gifts was T.J. Maxx.  I refuse to go to the mall this time of year.

4.  Fun food discoveries.  Robbie and I literally have a list of restaurants in Louisville we want to try.  It's on his phone; that's how many there are to keep track off.  A few nights ago, we decided to hit up a beer lounge called Four Pegs in Germantown.  It did not disappoint.  I had the chicken and waffle sandwich and I literally had to push it away so I wouldn't eat the entire thing and make myself sickeningly full.  The beer selection was awesome, too!

5.  The last thing I'm loving this week is this scenery.  I'm lucky enough to live in a part of the country where the sunsets over rolling hills of horse farms are common place.  Sometimes I dream of living somewhere a lot warmer, (especially since it has been below freezing most of this week) but I know my heart and soul is here in Kentucky.

{Don't judge my crappy, driving while photographing, iPhone pic}

Hope that everyone has an awesome weekend!  I'm getting a major haircut (long overdue) and heading to Lexington!  Happy Friday!

Friday Five, Holiday Edition!

Since I haven't had time (or let's be honest, content) for the past few Friday Fives, I'm back this week with a fun Holiday edition!  I'm linking up with April, Christina, Darci, and Natasha again and I'm glad to be back!

It's snowing and icing like crazy, so this week is the perfect chance to talk about the holidays!  I'll be curled up in the house all weekend, wrapping presents, hanging garland, and generally being merry.

It's no secret that Christmas is NOT my favorite holiday.  (It's NYE, for you inquiring minds.)  I absolutely love buying gifts for my family and friends, but I cannot stand the forced stress, traffic, and commercial consumerism that are required for Christmas. Well, this year I have decided to shed my bah humbug approach (Like I did last year, if you remember from my old blog) and go all into this crazy holiday season!!!

1.  I'M PUTTING UP A TREE!!!!  I have put up one tree since owning my first house at the age of 24.  One.  This is because it is a pain in the ass.  And I'm not a huge fan of Christmas.  And I'm lazy.  Mostly just lazy.  Anyway, so when we were moving all my stuff from storage in my dad's basement to my current house, he mentioned that I could have his pre decorated, pre lit Christmas tree that was wrapped in cellophane and stored in my free personal storage unit there.  I grabbed that bad boy and this week it made it's return to the holidays!  I put it in the back family room and it looks great! Pictures to come soon!

2.  My Christmas present to myself…Arcade Fire Tickets!!!  I have wanted to see this band live for YEARS and lo and behold, they are coming to the 'Ville this spring!!!!  I cannot wait to see them, and even more importantly, dress up in costume for the show!!!  Crazy fun good times to be had!

3.  Finally being able to get my baby bro a new phone for Christmas.  Hopefully this will result in less IT related phone calls at 3am.  Get off the phone and go to bed, kid!!!  Now, which color to choose???

4.  No annual holiday party.  Honestly, I need a break from planning an events right now, so I'm not at all upset that I decided awhile back to not throw my annual Christmas or NYE party this year.  Don't get my wrong, I love, love, love throwing this party every year.  But the main reason I do is so when all my high school friends in Lexington come home for the holidays, we have a set time to get together all at once.  Since I don't so much live in Lexington anymore, I figured that holding the party wouldn't help us all get together.  Anyway, I'm relieved to not have the stress this year. And yes, I know I am the only one that puts all that ridiculous pressure on myself.

5.  Having an excuse to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation over and over again.  I've already watched it once this week.  I absolutely love this movie.  I don't think I need to explain why.  If you don't, I don't think we should be friends any longer.  Seriously.

So those are my holiday Friday Fives!  Thanks to the ladies above that started this link up, I have had too much fun with it!

I hope everyone had as great as a Thanksgiving as I did last week!  Lots to be Thankful for this year (and all the other years, too)!!!
