This month has been so much fun with you, and I think that has a lot to do with you sleeping through the night most of the time towards the end of the month. Nothing makes life smoother when everyone gets a full (or almost full) night of sleep. Now that I'm looking back, those first few weeks were so rough. They seem like a blurry haze, and in the thick of it we just powered through. The Tina Fey quote wishing "That I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 a.m., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back" rings so true to me. Funny story, one morning your father admitted to me that he woke up on the floor of your nursery with you asleep next to him with nothing but the throw blanket and pillow to keep him warm. I admitted to him I had been doing the same thing on my nights with you too! We blew up an air mattress to sleep on after that.
Now you sleep by yourself in a dock a tot, like a dream by the way, and we are back to sleeping in our room. I still wake up with you most night since I'm on maternity leave until July, but you only wake up once if at all. Don't take that to mean I'm getting TONS of sleep, mostly because I wake up to check and see if you are still breathing more often than I care to admit. First time mom anxiety is real, and strong.
You are smiling, giggling, and so happy most of the time and you've really started finding your voice. I love to make noises with you that you imitate. Watching you giggle at my funny faces and sounds is just about the best thing on Earth. Now I see why people have so many kids, because I just can't get enough of it. I find myself wishing you'd stay this age forever and at the same time being so excited to see what you learn next. You truly are an amazing little creature and your dad and I feel like the luckiest people on Earth.
