View From the Couch

Well, it's that time of year again! Winter cold and flu season!!! Not what you expected? Yeah, me neither. But when I woke up this morning, life and my throat had other plans.

So I figured I'd use this time to catch up on Netflix, finish my book, write a blog post or two, and spend some quality time with the couch.

I'm not a great napper, so I started my sick day with a couple of mugs of tea and JK Rowling's Casual Vacancy. It's taken me a month to finish it, but I really enjoyed it. Her writing style is very specific, and it's very similar to how she writes in the HP books. But the topics are nothing like the kid friendly stories of Harry Potter. Anyway, point of the story, I liked the book. You might too!

After finishing the book, I spent a little bit more time than I should have binge watching Making a Murderer. Drew and I were on episode 3, but today I finally turned it off on episode 6. He said he'd catch up and I promised not to watch anymore without him. I'm the worst... Anyone have any other Netflix recommendations for binge watching? I don't think this bug is going anywhere in the next 24 hours, so I better find something quick!

The rest of the day I spent dosing myself with Mucinex and Advil and praying for the sweet release of death. Just kidding! I'll be better soon enough, until then this will be my view:

Maybe tomorrow I'll post something more interesting! Happy almost Friday, y'all!

Christmas Five on Friday

It's Christmas time, and what better time to get back into blogging than when we're all super busy and stressed? Ha! But seriously, I miss blogging, but it has definitely been one of those things that I have had to let go in trade for getting things done.

So in the spirit of holiday cheer, I wanted to join the link up again to share some of my five favorite things I've been loving lately.

Happy holidays from my family to yours!!!

1. This awesome bourbon barrel artwork made in the shape of Kentucky!!!

I think we're going to stain it soon to be a bit darker so that it doesn't blend in so much with the brick. FYI, this is the basement of the new abode!

2. Unseasonably warm Decembers! I detest cold weather and everything that comes with it, so the high's in the 60's over the past few weeks has been much appreciated! Keep it up Mother Nature!!! (And yes, that was a week ago, but it's still warmish, so it counts!)

3. Foosball table for the basement! We can't wait to give this to Silas this weekend as an early Christmas/please don't hate the new house/we know it's hard to move present/bribe. Drew already kicked my ass, so I'm going to need to brush up on my foosball skills.

Yes, he beat me 10-1. Also, please disregard the out of place lamps, pillow, etc, in all the house pictures. We've owned the house since October, but we are far from done unpacking.

4. This little warm nugget of a pup. Riley has been gone for close to 6 months now, and some days are flat out sucky because his rotten blonde self isn't there to greet me at the door. But Maggie makes for an awesome companion and it doesn't hurt that she radiates heat and keeps me warm. And man, does she loves some blankets!

She is literally curled up in a basket of blankets. Ruff life! (See what I did there, ruff, as in rough! I'm very punny.)

5. Finally finding some reasonably priced chairs for the dining room. I won't mention what a pain they were to put together, but man am I glad we can host Christmas this year and have places for people to eat!!!

I have not however, finished decorating the dining room. It's kind of last on the to do list, except we will have about 20 people there on the 26th, so I better get moving on it!!!

Here's the link up info, make sure to stop by and visit the hostess' blogs!

The Season of Scarves is Upon Us

Well's its official. Actually, it's been official since September 23rd. But today is the first day I wore a scarf, so it's officially official! And with the coming of fall, comes the unsolicited posts about the damn Pumpkin Spice Latte that I detest so much. There's even sponsored posts about it in my dang Twitter feed. Seriously, enough with the PSL. I don't want one, which means more for you. Its a win-win.

It's been really tough for me to try and wrap my head around fall this year since I'm still in limbo, housing wise, and cannot do the typical pumpkins and mums front porch displays. It stinks not being able to decorate for my favorite season and one of my favorite holidays.

But alas, the closing period on the house in Louisville will come to an end sometime in the near future. Hopefully. I've been told within about two weeks. Which is just about the amount of time I have until I absolutely lose my mind. I do not do well with disorganization and living out of boxes. I miss my shoe organizers.

In the meantime, I've spent my free time obsessing about how to decorate this new house (SQUEE!!!!) It's one of my most favoritest things in the entire world to do, so waiting to get in and start is making me nutty.  The house is huge (we are NEVER moving again), so I need a lot more furniture and next to nothing I have matches. It's almost like starting from scratch, which is fun, but super expensive.

Here's the before's (from Realtor.com) and a few of my pins for inspiration:

And the two above are what I'm working with for the living room.

Above is the dream foyer {pinned from The Striped Pony}and below is our foyer.

It's going to be a lot of fun, and can I reiterate that I'm dying to get started??? Yeah, any day now would be nice. Please and thanks.

Any thoughts on the choices? Ideas? General musings?

Until next time, send good vibes our way for a closing in the near future!

Under Contract

WE ARE UNDER CONTRACT!

Actually, we've been under contract since the second day I listed my house. But I'm just now getting around to posting about it.

The packing and moving process is going well and I'm happy to say that I'm not feeling as overwhelmed as I was. But that feeling will be fleeting, I'm sure. Every part of the process has been super frustrating when it comes to negotiating with the buyers.

We did find and get a contract accepted on a house here in Frankfort, too. That part has been much easier. It usually is when buying as opposed to selling. Hopefully we will be moved in by the end of October.

For now, I'm just anxiously awaiting closing dates for both properties and pinning decor ideas like a mad woman. Lord knows I love to redecorate!!!

Anyone have any ideas on what to do with this space?

Yes, that is country blue paint on ALL of the trim and ducks on the wallpaper. And blue carpeting.  Thankfully it's only the basement.

The rest of the house is awesome and I don't even think we will be painting! Lots of built in's, great floors, plenty of closets and bathrooms and a HUGE kitchen!!!

Say a little prayer for my buyers as we go through the inspection process, because it's taking everything I have to not scream very NOT nice things about them into the sky. Ugh, I keep telling myself that it will all be over soon.

Happy hump day, ya'll! Until next time!

Just a Little Update

So... I sold my house!!! I had my first offer within 24 hours on the market and after 3 days of negotiations, I am under contract!!!

Hopefully the rest of this process goes smoothly. I'm pretty burned out on the whole moving process already and it's just beginning!

We've looked at quite a few houses here in Frankfort, but still haven't found the "one." It's a bit disheartening, but luckily I can store my furniture in my dad's basement and stay there as long as it takes.

With that being said, does anyone have any boxes???

Until life gets a smidge less chaotic, I'll leave you with a pic of the biggest two reasons I'll soon be calling Frankfort home again for the first time in 18 years.

I am not dead...yet.

So yeah...it's been awhile. I have not had time until this very moment to blog. No one cares, I get that. But at one point I enjoyed this online web diary thing I've got going here. It's fun for me to look back and see the things I've done over time. I enjoy the link ups, challenges, and fun little surveys that come with it. But for the time being, I am so completely swamped with work, life, and moving.

YES. I said moving. I'm moving. Again. This time to Frankfort. Uh huh. Yeah. That's my response too.

I never thought I'd move back home to the place I spent the first 16 years of my life. I swore up and down I'd never do it. But I've said a lot of other absolute statements like that before, and always proved myself wrong. (Example: I'll never leave Lexington...I'm never going to live in Louisville...I will never be a brunette. You see the trend here.)

Anyway, I never expected to move to Frankfort after 3 short years of living in Louisville. Don't get me wrong, I love living in Louisville. The problem is, I don't actually live there. What I have is a very large, expensive, and well decorated storage unit in Louisville.  I have only been home for around 2 weeks total this summer.

So hence the reason for my post title. I'm not dead yet, but I'm starting to pack up my house (OMG, HOW DID I ACCUMULATE ALL THIS STUFF????) and put it on the market in a week or so. Packing and moving again might be the death of me.

Anyway, wish me luck on this crazy endeavor and I'll be back sometime this fall. Hopefully.

Until next time, cheers y'all!!!
