This weekend, Robbie and I hosted a few of his relatives for a casual Saturday brunch. He did all the cooking while I was at the vet for a check up with Riley, so when I came home everything was pretty much ready to go. Except the plating of the food. Oh boy, this is where men and women differ soooo very much. Robbie had lined all the plates with paper towels and put all of the food on top of them. This is fine for bacon, before you serve it, but I was not having it for the other dishes. I (being the ridiculous hostess that I am) fixed that situation quickly. It turned out very nice and I was excited to get to use the new nautical table settings I bought.
Place mats and napkins are from Pomegranate, Inc. The ramekins and rectangular plates are from a little shop I found in Laguna Beach called Tuvalu. They had tons of nautical inspired housewares, which if you know anything about me, I am obsessed with! The crab napkin rings were from a little shop at the Hotel Del Coronada in San Diego. The Hotel Del Coronada is the oldest wooden hotel in the United States and is absolutely gorgeous, grandiose, and charming all at the same time. One of these days I will share the pictures from my California adventures.

Riley was super well behaved at the vet on Saturday morning. I think it helps me feel better that they take him in the back for all his shots and blood work. I hate seeing my fur baby upset! He was due for his semiannual check up anyway, but I wanted to take him because after we moved into the new house, I found a huge tick on him. It seemed to have been there for a few days, so he needed to be tested for Lime Disease. Luckily, he is as healthy as a horse, with the exception of being too skinny. He lost about four to six pounds during the move due to all the stress. He tends to not eat when he's anxious or if I'm out of town. Because of the combination of the two, he's looking pretty lean these days. If only I had that problem! So in addition to his daily food (which he never finishes), I will be adding some rice or potatoes to his dinner. So I guess I better start cooking more!
That's all for now, hopefully an update on the other guest room will be coming shortly. Until then, have a great Monday! Cheers!
