I'm not even kidding, yesterday was a roller coaster of a day. There were good parts, bad parts, and some in between parts. I started the day exhausted and grumpy. Instead of staying in my funk all day, I put my foot down, said I'm not going to wallow in this mood, and tried to put some good karma out in the world via Random Act of Kindness.
Perfect. Everything was sublime. Back to homeostasis.
Then it all went to shit. There are just some days that test your faith in humanity, and yesterday was just one of those days. Fine, karma, I hear you. I promise. I'm trying harder, I swear.
Luckily, the after work part of the day perked up with a short trip to Lexington. First up was drinks with Kate at one of our favorite places, The Dish. I had a couple yummy champagne cocktails (my faves!) and then headed to Ramsey's for dinner with part of my girl crew (MISS YOU COURTS!!!). We had a great time and it seemed like my day was going to end on a perfect note. Apparently, that was not in the cards.
Nothing Earth shattering happened, but one of my very favorite people ended up getting hurt by someone not worth their time. No bueno. Don't mess with my girls. They are my family and I don't appreciate people treating them poorly. Luckily, a couple of drinks and some quality boy bashing time later, and she's on the mend. Life will continue. And karma will work in it's mysterious ways.
Today is a new day. It's the first day of August. It's almost my favorite time of the year, fall. Bring on the football, orange leaves, and smells of bonfires. I'm ready for a Bloody Mary at Keeneland. Bust out my scarf collection and the cute flats. Sweatshirts with flip flops. Bring it all on. This fall is going to be the best one yet. You'll see karma, it's time for some great new adventures and a lot more paying it forward. Together, you and I are going to get some s*** done. I promise.
