Some of Great Grandma Demos' Beatrix Potter Collection

My old piggy bank and Dad's old pull toy

Drapes from Target, rug from Overstock, Crib is Babyletto, bedding and tround bins are Petit Pehr from Nordstroms, mirrors are from TJ Maxx, camel from Land of Nod

Pottery Barn ladder shelves , chair was a hand me down that I had reupholstered in leftover fabric that I originally used on our living room couch, rust colored metal cart is from Ikea, and all the vintage travel posters I got for $4 a piece on Groupon.

White Hemnes dresser from Ikea, diaper organizer from Pottery Barn Baby, lamps from TJ Maxx, vintage travel posters were custom framed at Michael's, and the changing pad cover is also Petit Pehr.

The Pottery Barn Kids My Size chair is so cute in the navy gingham print with a white monogram.

Many a nights have been spent sitting in that chair feeding our sweet boy. It seems like forever ago that we brought him home, but at the same time just like yesterday. We're already transitioning certain newborn items out of his room, like that ladder shelf. That thing is a climbing accident waiting to happen.

Maybe by the time he's in college, I will post an updated non-newborn nursery update.

Something Other than Baby Talk

It has probably been way too long since I posted something non-baby related. Can you say one track mind???
So here's what else we've been up to these days...
{Through our kitchen window you can sort of see where they dug out to place 3 or the 17 piers we needed to keep our house from falling down. Fun times.}

1. Major house repairs. None of them fun or sexy. Think foundation, plumbing, and concrete. Needless to say, it hasn't been cheap or clean around here for awhile. Hopefully we will wrapping up the work within the next few weeks. If I can find a painter....

{Fabric and trim for the roman shades}

{Newly upholstered rocker for the nursery. I'm also a little bummed with the way the fabric is pulling and buckling on the back and skirt. But it's an old chair, so I guess that's what happens.}
2. Home decor projects in the works. I'm ordering roman shades for our kitchen and I finally got around to getting the baby's rocker reupholstered. We brought it home Saturday, only to realize that there are blue dye or ink stains on the top from rubbing against a box it was next to in the car. Anyone have any tips for removing that kind of stain? I had a bit of a "come apart" when I saw it. I mean, wouldn't you??? (Also, isn't that the best term, come apart? My friend Courtney introduced me to that little gem.)
{Tess and her two Grandmothers!}
3. Met my sweet second cousin, Tess. My cousin Daniel and I are only a few months apart, and both of our first born's will be as well. She's so sweet and has the most adorable chubby cheeks in the world. Even more exciting (just kidding) is that my mom and his mom (my aunt) saved a lot of the matching outfits that Dan and I wore as kids. I've already busted them out of storage and can't wait to see the little babes all dressed up!
{Those are the epitome of puppy dog eyes.}

4. My brother in law is fostering this sweet faced pup, and I couldn't have been more smitten when we met him the last Saturday. I not so secretly hope that he ends up a permanent addition the family.
{That aqua FitBit on my left arm is just for show. Don't let it fool you into thinking I'm out here hitting more than 6,000 steps a day. Ugh...}
5. And just for inquiring minds, a 33 week bump picture. I feel like a whale, and have no idea how I'm going to carry anymore dang weight around. But if a zillion other mothers have done it, I guess I can too. Seven more weeks and counting!!!

Nesting

Happy almost Friday, y'all! I am so incredibly ready for this week to be over that I can barely stand it! Let's just say it's been a long week at work and owning a fleet of heavy duty machinery is over rated.

Lately, I've been having extremely strong nesting urges when I'm home and have pretty much decided every room in our house needs a makeover except maybe two. Is that normal around month 5? I feel like nesting is supposed to be around month 7? Maybe my hormones are just advanced and over achieving! Ha!

My current obsession is repainting our master bedroom and updating our master bath. I really want to make our couple space very romantic, light, and airy feeling. Right now it feels more like, uhh, a messy Picasso painting.

Here's the vibe I'm aiming for. Light with a few touches of soft color (I'm thinking powder blue instead of the blush pictured), very bright, and extremely peaceful. In this room, kids don't come running in at 6 am demanding breakfast, right??? And you always awake refreshed and without bedhead... Ha ha, yeah right.

First step is hiring a painter to get rid of the Palladium Blue walls that grace almost every room in my house. I cannot tell you how sick I am of that color. Same goes for the other dominant color, Revere Pewter that is in every other room that isn't aqua. When is that dang color going to go out of style??? I'm incredibly over it. But I'm not spending a fortune repainting every room in our house because I'm crazy and pregnant. So the bedroom will have to suffice.

Here's the palette I'm looking at and hoping doesn't make our beige carpets look too yellow.

I'm thinking number 2, Dove White from Benjamin Moore, might be a winner, but I'll have to paint some swatches. Our bedroom can look incredibly drab in the evening and I don't want walls that look dingy.

(Other colors in the swatch, all Benjamin Moore: 1. Ivory White 3. Decorator's White 4. Atrium White 5. Acadia White 6. Elephant Tusk)

After that, I'll see what the budget holds for redoing the master bath. It's going to involve some actual renovation work and headache, so I might just live with it for a little while longer. No one wants to bring home a baby to contractors and dry wall dust.

Until my next fit of nesting hits!

2016, The Year of Unwritten Posts

I'm still alive, just still super busy! But in a spare minute of downtime last night, I was going through the pictures on my phone and realizing just how incredibly fast this year is flying by and how much we've managed to pack in!
I never got around to posting all of our fun adventures, so I thought a good old fashioned photo dump would be a great way to get it all down and documented. Mostly so I can go back and reminisce on the early days of our life together. I am nothing if not sentimental!!!
So here we go, hold on to your pants, this might take awhile!
