Week 22 Bumpdate!

Well, it's been 5 weeks since I remembered to post a pregnancy update. But I'm sure that comes as no surprise to anyone.  So here's what's been going on in pregnancy land!

How far along:
22 weeks and 4 days

Baby's size:
Spaghetti squash! 8 inches, 1 pound

Symptoms:
For the love of god, please let our new mattress alleviate some of my back and round ligament pain. Lots of pressure in the nether regions. And it's getting very difficult to get up with any sort of grace. I can tell that shoe tying and toe touching are soon to be fond memories. Hell-o belly! Might have more to do with the sweet cravings and not necessarily the baby. It's debatable.

Movement:
Oh my gosh, so, so much! It really does make some of the discomfort so worth it to feel our little nugget bopping around in there. He gets especially feisty right after I eat chocolate. Or that's my excuse for eating so much leftover Halloween candy. And cookies. And brownies.

Sleep:
Not so great. Between getting up every few hours to go to the bathroom and having to switch sides to remedy hip pain, I don't remember the last time I slept for more than 4 hours at a time. I know that I should not be complaining and it's going to be soooo much worse here in a few months. But it's really a bit cruel that right before you have a baby that's going to keep you from normal sleep for months you sleep like crap while pregnant with said nocturnal feeding creature.

Nursery:
We hung the curtains and pictures FINALLY!!! Let's not discuss how I'm going to be adding an extra foot and a half of fabric to the curtains because I forgot to account for the curtain rod above the window frame. Whatever, the curtain rod is at least hung.

The Name Game:
Still nothing definite on the middle name. And I kind of wish people would quit asking.

Looking forward to:
Dinner with my friend Kate this week. It's been too long since we had a night of catching up and wine. Oh wait...

Something great from week 22:
I think this has been my favorite part of the pregnancy so far. This morning, before we got up and going, Drew was able to put his hand on my belly and feel the baby kick or head butt me (not quite sure which!) for the first time!!! It might be one of my favorite moments of all time, actually. And I might be teary eyed just typing this. :)

Rings:
Still on, but not nearly as loose.

Missing most:
BRIE. Seriously, I'm sure I could eat a few wedges and not have a thing to worry about. But being the first time preggo that I am, I'm not risking it.

Left to do:
Wait. Really, that's about it. I've pretty much done it all. This is what pregnancy looks like for Type A over planners. Everything that can be done up to this point has long been done, and then some. I can't quite pack a hospital bag for me or the baby yet. And I'm afraid to take the tags off of any of the clothes past 6 months size to wash. You better believe I busted out the Dreft weeks ago for the newborn through 3-6 month stuff!

Only a few weeks until the first baby shower to celebrate our baby boy, so I'll have plenty of nesting goodness after that too! Man, do I love any excuse to nest!!!

So this is technically a week 22 and 4 days. But whatever. A historian I am not.

We got a new mirror in the bathroom downstairs too. Woo hoo Pottery Barn Clearance Event!

Life Lately

Just a little photo dump of what we were up to (that totally kept me from blogging, I swear) this past weekend.

My soon to be rich and famous brother in law's most recent entry at Keeneland. It's so cool to see a horse running and know all the behind the scenes hard work that goes into getting to that point. So extremely impressed, keep up the great work, Sam!!!

The more adorable side of the Logsdon clan enjoying some of my water at Keeneland. After every sip, he'd say "ahh!" with a great sense of satisfaction. Oh and have you noticed those cheeks? They need more smooches from Auntie Eileen.

Baby Logsdon goes tailgating at Keeneland, and his momma has the swollen legs to prove it.

Who wouldn't want to have a child with this man? Slays me how natural he is with his nephew and pretty much all babies ever.

See ya next time!

Happy Halloween!!!!

Although I do miss the wild days of my youth getting dressed up in the girliest of Halloween costumes and consuming as much adult "candy" (translation: cheap keg beer) as possible, those days are behind me and I'm not terribly upset about it.

Halloween looks a lot different these days, but it's sooooo much better! Check it out for yourself:

Front of house decor

Trick or treating with "Ash Ketchum" from Pokemon at Salato Wildlife Center this past Saturday. We all had a good time, and this mama got a workout! Walking up and down hills is no joke at 5 months pregnant!

Hope everyone has a spooky and fun Halloween!

Nesting

Happy almost Friday, y'all! I am so incredibly ready for this week to be over that I can barely stand it! Let's just say it's been a long week at work and owning a fleet of heavy duty machinery is over rated.

Lately, I've been having extremely strong nesting urges when I'm home and have pretty much decided every room in our house needs a makeover except maybe two. Is that normal around month 5? I feel like nesting is supposed to be around month 7? Maybe my hormones are just advanced and over achieving! Ha!

My current obsession is repainting our master bedroom and updating our master bath. I really want to make our couple space very romantic, light, and airy feeling. Right now it feels more like, uhh, a messy Picasso painting.

Here's the vibe I'm aiming for. Light with a few touches of soft color (I'm thinking powder blue instead of the blush pictured), very bright, and extremely peaceful. In this room, kids don't come running in at 6 am demanding breakfast, right??? And you always awake refreshed and without bedhead... Ha ha, yeah right.

First step is hiring a painter to get rid of the Palladium Blue walls that grace almost every room in my house. I cannot tell you how sick I am of that color. Same goes for the other dominant color, Revere Pewter that is in every other room that isn't aqua. When is that dang color going to go out of style??? I'm incredibly over it. But I'm not spending a fortune repainting every room in our house because I'm crazy and pregnant. So the bedroom will have to suffice.

Here's the palette I'm looking at and hoping doesn't make our beige carpets look too yellow.

I'm thinking number 2, Dove White from Benjamin Moore, might be a winner, but I'll have to paint some swatches. Our bedroom can look incredibly drab in the evening and I don't want walls that look dingy.

(Other colors in the swatch, all Benjamin Moore: 1. Ivory White 3. Decorator's White 4. Atrium White 5. Acadia White 6. Elephant Tusk)

After that, I'll see what the budget holds for redoing the master bath. It's going to involve some actual renovation work and headache, so I might just live with it for a little while longer. No one wants to bring home a baby to contractors and dry wall dust.

Until my next fit of nesting hits!

Hump Day Shopping to Cure the Mid Week Blues

Y'all, the dang Tory Burch Private Sale gets me every time. Luckily, I didn't buy any shoes this time and was able to talk myself out of some clothes that I won't be able to wear until post bebe. Well, I bought some flip flops, but that doesn't count. Hopefully I can lose the baby weight in a timely fashion to fit into the new bikini I bought. Dieting and exercise aren't my jam, so I'm putting all my eggs into the breastfeeding basket. HA!
But here's what I did end up snagging:

Can't wait to rock this all fall and winter before having to resign myself to a diaper bag for awhile.
And the bathing suit and pair of flip flops I ordered are no longer available, so no picture. You'll just have to trust me that they are cute!
Can't wait for them to arrive! Whee!!!

Ramblings and Musings for Week 18

I finally broke down and ordered the crib skirt made by the crib manufacturer and am crossing my fingers it doesn't feel gross. I have this weird thing about baby stuff not being made of synthetic or cheap fabrics. Especially linens and clothes. Yuck.

Next, I am dying to paint our master bedroom a warm white or pale cream color. We get very little natural or overhead light in there, so I'm hoping it will make things a bit less dreary and dank feeling.

Three. Apparently I have been feeling the baby move for awhile now. I've been reassured by my mama friend Courtney that the weird flippy flutter I've been caught of guard by daily over the past few weeks is indeed our little boy somersaulting his way around my uterus. Weird. I kinda expected a bit more fanfare, to be honest.

Moving on. I am currently obsessing over finding a new shower curtain. Anyone have any ideas on where to look? There's a cute one by Kate Spade, but I'm not sure that I wouldn't get tired of it in a few months.

That's all for now. Next time I'll have more interesting topics, hopefully!

Week 17 Bumpdate

I'm going to be brutally honest when I tell you all this, I'm not really enjoying being pregnant. It's uncomfortable, I have no control over my emotions, and I'm tired of feeling like the Goodyear blimp. Not to mention tired. And while I'm over most of that awful first trimester nonsense, I'm still not feeling that wonderful glow of the second trimester yet,
I'm holding out hope that it's just around the corner and tomorrow I'll wake up a new woman. Or at the very least without round ligament pain and a migraine.
So without further complaining, here are the week 17 stats.
How Far Along:
17 weeks and 6 days
Baby's size:
Turnip (5 inches, 5 ounces)
Symptoms:
Does cranky as heck count as a symptom? But mostly just back and hip soreness, tender belly, fatigue, constant headaches, and constipation (sorry, this blog is not for the faint at heart.) Lots of random little cramps and muscle spasms from a growing uterus. Fun stuff.
Movement:
I don't know...I keep having these weird twitches and flutter feelings in my abdomen that I'm not sure if it's gas, muscle spasms, or the baby moving. According to my doctor, I'll know when it's the real thing. So I guess no?
Sleep:
Ha. If I'm not waking up at least once or twice to pee, it's to shift positions to alleviate some hip pain. Or because a certain 6 year old thinks it's necessary to visit us every night at 11:30 and sometimes 2:30. I'm also not used to sleeping on my sides, so the Snoogle has kind of helped with that. Mostly, I just fight with my dog over it in the middle of the night. It kind of gives me a neck cramp anyway. Anyone have any luck with the wedges?
Nursery:
Same as the last couple of weeks. I'm waiting until our first shower to really do anything else. Does anyone have any experience buying a crib skirt for a Babyletto crib? Ours has a 12" drop and I'm having a hard time finding a reasonable priced 100% cotton skirt that isn't going to be 6" too long.
The Name Game:
Still no definite middle name, but Jude is here to stay. Silas told his mom that the baby's name is going to be Ty. So funny how kids come up with these things on their own.
Looking Forward To:
Is it too early to say not being pregnant? Yeah, okay.  Umm, how about booking our flights and AirBnB to San Francisco in December?!?! We decided we really did want to book a babymoon and go visit Drew's brother and girlfriend in California while we still could. I don't think we're going to be booking too many cross country trips after March, so December it is!
Something Great From Week 17:
So these posts aren't a total bummer or complaint filled, I'm adding this category.
We had some maternity photos taken this past Sunday by our wedding photographer, Susan Stewart-Jordan. It's a little early, bump wise, to be taking pics, but I wanted some fall pictures with my belly. Plus a maternity photo shoot in January just sounds cold. And let's be honest, I may not feel all that pretty (read: I'm afraid I'm going to blow up like a balloon) by then. So we did them now. And I can't wait to see them!
Susan does fantastic work, and is so sweet and fun to work with. Drew and I both were sooo incredibly pleased with our wedding and engagement photos, that I don't know if we will ever let anyone take family pictures of us from now on.
Another great part of the photo shoot was that I decided to splurge and book an appointment at Dry Bar. I am not great at fixing my own hair, so I wanted it to look nice and hold up for our photos. I think it turned out great!
Rings:
Very much still on, and still pretty loose. I could probably have gotten them sized down one more size before the wedding, but decided to leave them as they are. I'm sure this will come in handy around months 7-9 when I'm retaining water and swollen. I think I'll appreciate being able to look down at my hand and see my wedding band and engagement ring, especially when I need a reminder of the love that made this baby.
Missing Most:
Let's say sushi and brie. Because saying booze and cigarettes is so gauche.
Left to Do:
Alllll the things! Except buy a crib and paint the nursery. That's done.
{ Drew's iPhone version of the professional shot :) }
